- The workshops are experiential and participatory in nature.
- Group work, role-plays, and brainstorming are used in the majority of the sessions so as to encourage the participants to create an atmosphere of learning and sharing. Lectures are also used with the help of visual aids and multimedia to introduce new concepts.
- Experienced facilitators conduct the workshops with batches of 20-25 police men and women. The project discovered early on that there is a differential impact of the group with regard to the gender of the facilitator, especially in the sessions on gender and violence. Therefore, wherever possible the team tries to have at least one male and one female facilitator.
- Keeping in mind the duration of the workshop, two or three facilitators are usually present.
