Referral Services In order to expand the capacity of our services and to provide the most expert guidance and help to the callers, YHL has actively sought to build a strong referral network. At present, we have medical doctors, specialists, psychologists, lawyers, NGOs, youth organizations, and shelter homes on our list. These referrals are available for five major cities in Pakistan: Rawalpindi , Islamabad , Peshawar and Jehlum.
Training for Professionals Over the past years, YHL has gained considerable experience in working with young people on the issues of sexual and reproductive health. Thanks to its counseling services, YHL has learnt about young people's concerns, queries, and misconceptions. It has also learnt about the barriers that young people face in accessing information and available ASRH services. YHL has conducted trainings for professionals on the following issues: - Communicating with young people on ASRH
- Para-counseling training
- Understanding Leadership and Communication
Awareness Raising YHL raises awareness about the issues of emotional and reproductive health faced by young people via informational handouts, brochures, and booklets. It also raises awareness about the issues through the radio. In the past, the program conducted ten series of radio programs (each series consisting of 12 half hour long programs) on this topic.
Volunteer Training Volunteers play a vital role in taking forward the message on important issues. Previous volunteer trainings have been greatly appreciated by young students and have built a critical mass of individuals who are sensitive to issues of adolescent sexual health. YHL's volunteer training has two important stages, one of sensitization and self awareness and the other of capacity building for counseling regarding Adolescents’ Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) issues. The second stage also includes training on how to communicate about ARSH with young people. YHL’s volunteer can help in certain activities such as awareness raising, poster dissemination, article writing, data base maintenance, and, most importantly, basic counseling. If you want to volunteer at the YHL, please visit Rozan's volunteer signup page.
