Project Umeed and the Zeest program

Since the completion of the project in May 2006, psychosocial support activities for earthquake survivors, with an additional focus on gender perspectives, have been absorbed into Rozan's Zeest program. Details of that will be available on the Zeest program page .

Continuing Field Work

Currently, various activities of the project that were initiated in December are still underway. Rozan-trained PRCS psychosocial field officers continue to work in various clusters and villages in the earthquake affected areas.

Rozan trained, supervised, supported, and followed-up with these trained staff members on a regular basis. This included fortnightly visits to the camps across the northern regions of Pakistan . Rozan also continues to follow up and monitor the current activities.

Partnerships with other organizations

Currently a new project in partnership with Oxfam-Novib is underway. This is a two-year project which will include capacity building of partner organizations on psychosocial & gender issues and partner organizations will include Sungi, NRSP (National Rural Support Program) and Saibaan.

The following initiatives will also be part of the project:

  • Impact assessment of the project
  • Material development to augment psychosocial support initiatives
  • Internship program through which a total of 24 interns will be extensively trained through a 6 month program focusing on self-growth as well as social issues
