Rozan's Strategies Print

Rozan works towards accomplishing its mission through the following three strategies:

A) Trainings

Rozan views the issues of violence and gender stereotyping in the overall context of emotional health and believes that self-awareness is an essential component in sustainable behavioral change.

Rozan has designed sensitization and capacity building trainings on issues of emotional health, gender, and violence that seek to address society holistically through its main players, i.e. women, men, youth, and children. Key institution and systems that play a significant role in creating a healthy society are also focused upon, i.e. parents, teachers, health professionals, police, government departments, and other civil society groups and organizations.

Rozan has created a niche with regards to the style of facilitation, approach and attitudinal change work.

Rozan's trainings and workshops are:

  • Experiential , providing participants the opportunity to explore belief systems, experience various situations, and practice skills in a workshop setting that give them an opportunity to reflect and grow.
  • Participatory , involving group work, role-plays, and brainstorming to encourage the participants to create an atmosphere of learning and sharing.

Rozan conducts trainings in the following areas:

  • Sensitization to Social Issues
  • Emotional Health Enhancement
  • Capacity Building
  • Organizational Development

B) Psychological Counseling

Rozan offers professional counseling and therapy individually and in groups to:

  • Children facing emotional and behavioral problems
  • Adolescents facing emotional and reproductive health issues
  • Women facing emotional and psychological problems
  • Children and women survivors of violence (domestic violence, rape, child sexual abuse)

Establishing and running support groups for the general community is also an important Rozan activity. Individual counseling is offered in person at the Rozan office, as well as through letters, e-mails and over the telephone. Additionally, Rozan's psychologists hold counseling camps at different institutes and communities. A large number of people have benefited from these counseling services, in which the client's confidentiality and ongoing professional supervision for the counselors are given special consideration.

C) Awareness Raising

Another of Rozan's major activities is providing information on various issues of emotional health and gender, as well as violence against women and children. Rozan believes that providing facts and disseminating information on these important issues in a culturally sensitive way is a powerful tool for the empowerment of a society.

Rozan raises awareness through:

  • Seminars and conferences
  • Media (print and electronic)
  • Research studies, reports, and material available in the resource library
  • Development of informative material on issues of violence and emotional health
